Glasgow Ultimate

We have some big news that we are excited to share to kick off 2025! Since 2014, Glasgow Ultimate has been an associate member of Hillhead Sports Club where we have leased the grounds and hosted our summer activities.

Over the past year, we have been in negotiation to become a fully integrated sports section of HSC and we are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached. This secures the long-term future of our club and gives us a fantastic base from which to expand and grow our sport. Hillhead Sports Club is a vibrant, multi-sports club with over 900 members and some of the best sporting facilities in Glasgow.

With immediate effect, we will be transferring all of our playing activity to Hillhead Ultimate. This new club will serve the same purpose that Glasgow Ultimate has previously, just with a new name and eventually a new logo. We will continue to run competitive teams, youth sections, training sessions, summer league and everything that made GU a great sports club. These activities will be included in a sports club membership, but also available to non-members at a pay-as-you-go rate.

The driving force for this move is a huge opportunity to develop our sport and to make ultimate accessible and inclusive at all levels. Becoming members of a sports club will be a cultural shift for our current membership but we are incredibly excited about what we can offer and the future of the club.

When is this happening?

Memberships will be available from midday Saturday 11th January and the first Hillhead Ultimate sessions will start this month. We will post more info on this shortly. There will be a transition period as we move a lot of our media and documentation over to Hillhead Ultimate. For now, you can still reach us via Glasgow Ultimate email and social media but you can also follow @hillhead.ultimate on Instagram.

What about GUX and GUXYZ?

Our competitive teams, GUX and GUXYZ will also become part of Hillhead Ultimate. They will continue to play as GUX and GUXYZ and wear GU kit for the 2025 season.

What’s happening to Glasgow Ultimate?

Glasgow Ultimate will not disappear completely. We plan to update www.glasgowultimate.co.uk to become a central contact point for all things ultimate within the city of Glasgow. GU will also continue to deliver taster sessions, school clubs and community outreach with the aim of developing the sport around the city and providing training resources for all to use. If you are interested in becoming a GU coach, we will be reaching out sometime in the near future.
