Hillhead Ultimate’s  Summer Programme! 

From June to September we’ll be bringing you weekly competitive sessions open to all levels every Wednesday night. These will be split into multiple leagues and one-off game nights, with regular socials alongside them.

Our first league will be our usual hat league, running from the 10th of June for 5 weeks.  The exact configuration will depend on the number of sign ups so please register now so we can sort out teams and logistics:

Below is a sample calendar of what we plan to run this summer. Exact dates and configuration could change depending on sign ups/pitch availability.

  • Open to all
    • Up to 36 weeknight summer league, games, or club wide training sessions
    • Weekend pickup sessions (TBC – will depend on interest, and in September will depend on the needs of the competitive squads)
  • Squad Trainings
    • These are for our competitive teams. These sessions are only relevant to anyone who has already been selected for one of these squads.
    • Squad trainings* are only included for illustration. Each squad sets their own dates so look to Spond for confirmation of their sessions.

All of our summer activities take place at Hillhead Sports Club, 32 Hughendend Road, G12 9XP.

  • Monday nights: Club training 19:00 – 21:00
  • Wednesday nights:
    • Juniors – 18:00 – 19:00
    • Summer League/Games nights – 19:00 – 21:00
  • Sunday afternoon: Squad training 14:00 – 16:00

We play on the grass training pitch located next to the main club house and have access to changing rooms and toilets. Hillhead has a bar and cafe which is perfect for coming down to watch or to socialise afterward.

The above timings are generally correct but make sure you check Spond and the club calendar closer to the time for any changes.

  • Sign up as an individual and we will put you on a team even if you are only available for part of the league.
  • 2 mixed gender games per session.
  • 5-a-side teams
  • Everyone is welcome regardless of experience or ability.
  • For anyone new to the sport we will run through the basics with you before each session and touch base each week to make sure you’re getting as much out of it as possible. 
  • The club bar and beer garden will be open  after each session and we will be organising some socials during the summer.
  • There is a cost to the league detailed below but if you are new to the sport and just want to check it out we give you the first couple of sessions for free.
  • All players need to have at least basic UKU membership to participate regularly beyond taster sessions.

Everyone who registers is ordinarily put on a team but we do have an upper limit on capacity. We’ll allocate teams before the weekend of the 6th/7th of June. We will still accept new members throughout the summer but it makes it much easier if we know up front. 

Team League

Form your own teams and take on the rest. Format TBC. There will definitely still be provision for individuals to sign up and participate.

Frisbeeliad

Multi-discipline, muti-week tournament to find the most well rounded players. Details TBC.

As well as Summer League on Wednesday evenings we’ll be at Hillhead for pickup/training and other activities on Monday nights and Sunday afternoons. This gives you up to 6 hours of ultimate most weeks.

By far the most affordable deal if you want to take advantage of all of this is to take out a Hillhead Sports Club membership:

  • This is a year round subscription membership
    • £15.50/Month Adults
    • £10.40/Month Students
    • £8.90/Month Juniors

We realise not everyone is ready to commit to a year round membership so we do still offer PAYG options:

  • PAYG – £6 per  session.
    • Subsequent sessions in the same week are charged at half price. For example, if you attend on the Monday in week 1, the Wednesday and Sunday sessions in week 1 will only cost you £3 each.
  • Summer Games Packages – £32 each:  
    • June/July. Covers all 9 Wednesday nights in June/July.
    • August/September. Covers all 9 Monday nights in August/September.

Please note that the summer games packages only apply to the Wednesday night sessions and must be paid for up front. Monday and Sunday training are not covered by this package, they are charged at PAYG rates if you don’t have a Monthly Hillhead Sports Club memberhsip.

Payment details will be sent out after you register for summer league. Payment should be made in advance of each session or on the night unless arranged otherwise. If you are new to Ultimate and giving it a try, your first 2 sessions will be free.

Financial hardship

As a club, we don’t want anyone to miss out on playing Ultimate due solely to financial reasons. If you’re worried about your ability to afford summer league, or any Hillhead events, please fill in the relevant section of the form or get in touch with the club. All such matters are treated confidentially. We are usually happy to defer payment or allow you to pay over a period that suits your needs once we have come to an agreement.
