Glasgow Ultimate

For the first time in over 7 years Glasgow managed to field a team in every event of the UK mixed tour, the largest national competition for this division. Not only were we playing for our proud city, as the official representatives of The Principality of Sealand we also carried the hopes of a nation.

The season started strongly, returning from tour 1 as plate final winners and ranked 13th in the country.Without doubt the highlight of the season was our 5th place finish at tour 2. After 3 sudden death finishes in our group games we came out top of the pool, then went on to take the top 8 by storm winning all of our knockout games on Sunday and finishing as high as we possibly could. This included one of the best comebacks of all time at 8-2 down against the reigning champs Chevron, we recovered to win 15-12 and take 5th spot. This result was followed by another competent top 10 finish at tour 3 and the sealanders finished the tour in 8th place overall. A very impressive result for a team in their first season.

We rounded off the year by attending DUB (a tournament in Dublin), playing virtually as iron man all weekend and partying just as hard the team finished up 3rd.
The 2010 mixed season will kick off in the spring and Sealand are hoping to follow up their success in 2009 with another top 8 finish at Tour and another European adventure. We welcome any new faces that are interested in playing and hope to possibly have the numbers for a second team.
